EATTA visited Uganda to engage its members on challenges facing the tea sector in the country.
EATTA engaged the Director General, the Ministry of Trade, Industries and Co-operatives, and the Private Sector Foundation Uganda to address the legislative and regulatory challenges facing the tea sector in Uganda.
Other key areas of interest discussed during the engagements were the efforts to remove tea trade barriers, specifically transit bonds for non-Kenyan teas in order to make the teas competitive, and the issue of double taxation, which is against the EAC protocol.
